Collaboration between businesses, businesses and academia is increasing in the technology industry in Wales. Welsh software and IT services businesses are increasingly establishing collaborations with global industry players, such as Microsoft. Collaboration also extends to blue-chip players in the sector, with IBM Business Consulting Services collaborating with Fujitsu Services to deliver services for the DVLA.
Wales is home to 20 accredited centres of excellence for technology and industrial collaboration, each recognised for thier world-class facilities and exceptional track record of successful industrial collaboration.
Wales' universities are also playing a significant role in the collaborative culture of the Welsh software and IT services sector, not least because they are generating a steady stream of spin-outs companies such as Aqwan, Rockfield Software and e-Semi.
Additionally, Broadband Wales, which represents a significant Welsh Assembly Government investment, is equipping Wales with a strategic broadband infrastructure.
